About Ray & Marie Goldbach
The founders of Marathon Cheese Corporation blazed new trails in the cheese industry, innovating ways to slice, dice, and shred cheese that had never been done prior. Before the Marathon Cheese team came on the scene, most Americans purchased their cheese from behind the deli counter. Marathon Cheese created ready-to-eat, "grab-and-go" pre-packaged portions that popularized new ways of purchasing cheese from the grocer. They revolutionized the way cheese was sold in the United States.
Along the way, Ray & Marie invested in various entrepreneurial, economic development, & philanthropic ventures including The Hotel Wausau, The Village Inn, George's Grocery Store, The Marathon Area Swim Center, Packaging Tape, Inc. (Rocket Industrial), and "The Diaper Genie"...among others.
Ray & Marie Goldbach were faithful, loving and humble people who cherished their family, and their hometown roots. At The Goldbach Fund, we seek to honor their legacy by giving back to the communities they adored.

Our Mission
At The Ray & Marie Goldbach Fund our mission is to honor Ray & Marie Goldbach by helping cultivate attention, recruitment, and retention to the Central Wisconsin area (including Marathon City, Wausau, and Medford) through various Awareness Campaigns, Public Art, Economic Development Initiatives (including entrepreneurial grants), and Education.
